I am an experienced Freelance IT Technical Trainer with over 20 years’ Technical Training experience. With specialist Trainer skills including C# VB, XML, SQL Server, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ASP, ASP.NET and .Net, I have great presentation skills as well as many years of classroom management. I am a self-motivated individual who is both quality focused and thorough in my approach to work. I am willing to travel to present training courses.

July 2006 to 1st June 2009 Acuity Training Limited Systems and Training Manager

Acuity Training Limited is an IT Training/Software House employing 5 staff from its HQ in Guildford. The company provides Instructor Lead Training Classes and software solutions to its customers, including many Blue Chip Companies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Presented a majority of the Technical Training courses. These included many of the development tools already mentioned as well as Java, C#, Dreamweaver, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting Services and SQL Server Database Design.
  • Presented a number of Management Skills Training Courses. These included Train the Trainer, Project Management Techniques, Team Building and Appraisal Training.
  • Responsible for the day to day running of the training team of 4 trainers and 1 administrator.
  • Responsibility for Training scheduling and allocation of both in-house and external trainers.
  • Had sole responsibility for all aspects of the development of an in-house booking system (developed using VB.NET, SQL Server, XML and XSLT) including planning, design, allocation, quality and timelines of all deliverables.
  • Had sole responsibility for developing an In-house web development system. This was developed using ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML and SQL Server.
  • Responsible for writing detailed technical specifications from high-level business specifications for customer software requirements. Also responsible for the development of these software solutions. These included systems for Surrey Police, The College of Law and John Guest.

December 1993 to July 2006 EPC Computer Services Limited MD/Software Developer /Freelance Trainer

EPC Computer Services Limited was my company based in West Molesey, Surrey. The organisation specialise in providing Freelance Technical Software Training and Software Solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a freelance trainer I presented Training Courses for a number of training Companies including Silicon Beach Training, Systematix Ltd, BroadSkill Ltd, D S Datatraining Ltd, Eureka Software Training Services and Interquad Learning Ltd.
  • Presented all EPC Computer services Training Courses on customer sites.
  • Developed Training Material for WM Kellogg’s Gas Plant Systems in Egypt
  • Developed all Course Material for CompuTeach VB.Net Courses
  • Involved in all aspects of the software lifecycle from analysis, design, and development and testing of software prior to installation.
  • Worked to strict deadlines to ensure that projects were delivered on time and to budget.
  • Working within a Microsoft development environment, specialised in .NET, VB, ASP and SQL Server technologies.
  • Worked on site at leading institutions throughout the UK.
  • Software developed included drainage design system, on ship management system, conference booking system, insurance sales system and satellite tracking system.

Was Applied Research of Cambridge ( - January 1986)

Joined Applied Research of Cambridge as a post sales consultant for the CAD product GDS. I was given the responsibility of developing training courses for customers for the CAD system.

I was responsible for the whole project from design to implementation and presentation. As the workload grew I became Training Manager with a team of 4 trainers working for me. The department grew to a high point of over £2 million turnover

In December 1992, I gained the additional responsibility of becoming the Woking QA Manager responsible for moving the Woking Office to ISO 9000 compliance by mid 1994. This included passing a British Standard recognised examination for 'TICKIT' auditor in February 1993. I was also responsible for training Developers about the use of standards

September 1981 - November 1985 Plessey Airports

Joined Plessey Airports in September 1981 as a design draftsman. Became a CAD operator in February 1982 when Plessey Airports acquired GDS running on a VAX mainframe. Became the CAD 'leader' and in October 1984 the CAD Manager.

June 1979 - September 1981 Campbell Reith and Partners.

Joined Campbell Reith and Partners in June 1979 as a reinforced concrete detailer.

July 1975 - June 1979 Harris and Sutherland.

Joined Harris and Sutherland in July 1975 from school, as a trainee draftsman. In 1977 became a reinforced concrete detailer.
